Spiced apple fruit Scones

Spiced apple fruit Scones

Since the scone dough is so versatile these Spiced apple fruit scones are a nice change from the norm. Scones are always popular and its one of those recipes that everyone has made at least once or twice in their lifetime. This recipe uses a standard scone mix with the added twist literally! of spices, mixed dried fruit, cooking apples and dark sugar. For an added crunchy finish egg wash and sprinkle with demerara sugar. This will give your Spiced apple fruit scones a nice caramel flavour. Once out of the oven and cooled down finish off with a light dusting of icing sugar. The scones are rich enough to eat on their own or you can add more butter or strawberry jam.

Take out your butter and eggs at least an hour and a half before making. Preheat your oven just before you start. You can use the the Sultana scone method, just add mixed fruit instead of sultanas and remember your spices of nutmeg and cinnamon.
